Forum: GratefulDead Subject: How much is Europe 72 sped up?

I'm thinking of using dbpoweramp to read the HDCD-encoded 20 or 24 bits on the commercial release, and then speed-correcting the resulting 24-bit WAV files so I can listen to it at the right speed. I remember reading somewhere that it's about 3% fast. Anyone here know the more or less exact number?

Thanks!

This is what Charlie told me last week when I asked him about Sugar Mags from 5-4:

The Sugar Mags sounds different because that is the version from Europe 72 and someone patched it in from the CD. It's also different sounding because they raised the pitch 1% on the official release.
